M I C H A E L A  U N S I N N

The Swiss-German mezzo-soprano Michaela Unsinn studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) with Lina Maria Åkerlund and graduated with honors with a Master of Pedagogy and a Master of Performance. She attended masterclasses with Ingeborg Danz, Yvonne Naef, Kurt Widmer, as well as Meinaard Kraak and participated in the second German Lied Academy in Trossingen, the International Opera Workshop Sigriswil, the Lotte Lehmann Academy in Perleberg and the International Opera Academy Schwerte. She is currently working with the singer Adina Nitescu.

Michaela Unsinn has has performed in J.S. Bach's "B Minor Mass" and "St. John Passion", Handel's "Messiah", Mendelssohn's "Elijah", Rossini's "Petite messe solennelle" and Dvořák's "Stabat mater", among others, as well as Lieder recitals with pieces by Schumann, Schubert, Strauss, Brahms, Mahler, Wagner and more. Her last recital "Zaubergärten" with mélodies of the Belle Epoque was broadcast from Livestream and can be seen on YouTube.

On stage she made her debut in the summer of 2012 as Rosina in "Il barbiere di siviglia" at the Hallwyl Castle Opera, in 2013 she embodied the role of Despina in "Così fan tutte" at the festival "Murten Classics", in 2014 the role of Dorabella in the same opera as part of Ouverture-Opéra in Sion, In 2015 she appeared at the Lucerne Festival at Easter as "Justice" in Mozart's early work "The Guiltiness of the First Commandment" and embodied the role of Ramiro in "La finta giardiniera" as part of the Zurich Summer Festival. In 2020 she was seen as Dottoressa Malatesta in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" with the Schwyzer Sinfonie Orchester conducted by Urs Bamert.

Since 2011 she has been a scholarship holder of the Friedl-Wald Foundation in Basel and since 2012/2013 a scholarship holder of the Migros Kulturprozent.
